Autumn is such a brilliant time for discovering nature and exploring outdoors! We have a lovely mini woodland area across the road from us, which is great for running around in and collecting autumnal treasures.
After Jake's self-led play with his little treasure bowls a few days ago I decided that we could use whatever we collected to make mini discovery boxes. So off we went to explore!
Diving into the leaves is lots of fun too!
When we got home I put our assorted collected treasures into some little pots (we had some pebbles and shells from a day at the beach too) and let Jake play.
He really enjoyed rummaging through them and tipping them all out then sorting them back into the bowls. The leaves, conkers, acorns, pine needles, pine cones, and sycamore leaves (or helicopters as we call them) provide a range of lovely textures and show off the beautiful autumn colours! A great free activity for toddlers!
