Rainbow Collage

I found this idea on The Imagination Tree and its fabulous! It was a 2 day activity and could have been more if I hadn't been so impatient to see the final result.

Day one was going out for a walk, and in the garden to collect things of as many different colours as we could find; we got leaves of orange, green, yellow and red, pine needles, flowers, berries and other bits and pieces. My little boy had great fun looking for things and popping them into the bag. We also had some free painting time where Jake proceeded to paint his feet, and I painted a big rainbow onto some card.

Day two: While Jake was having his lunch I sorted all the bits we had collected into colours and put them in seven separate bowls (older children would be able to help with this). I also found some crafty bits like pipe cleaners, felt, shiny paper and things to fill up the bowls with more variety.
Then we got to sticking! I brought in one bowl at a time and only spread glue on one colour at a time to make sure the colours went in the right place (Im a bit of a perfectionist) and Jake diligently sat and picked bits out of the bowls and got to grips with sticking straight away!
His concentration was lovely to watch! And he talked about the colours and materials a lot too.
I love the finish project! Its so pretty!
